Vernon Central responded to a morning structure fire finding a mobile home fully
involved upon arrival. The home on Kennedy Hill Rd. in Union Twp. was occupied at
the time of the blaze, but no injuries were reported. A main concern during the
incident was a large propane tank next to the home and an adjacent garage. Both
of the exposures were protected and no further incidents arose. The family of the
residence is being attended to by the American Red Cross, as the residence will be
considered a total loss. The fire is currently under investigation by the
Pennsylvania State Fire Marshall. Vernon Central was assisted at the scene by
Vernon Twp., Greenwood, West Mead 1 and West Mead 2 fire departments along
with Meadville Area Ambulance. Crews were out about 3 hours.
